  • Belgian label We Play House will release a compilation called Our Beat Is Still New. The collection pays homage to a genre of dance music native to Belgium: new beat. In a blog post, WPH label boss Red D explained the concept: "We decided to ask a bunch of our favourite producers to make a new track inspired by Belgian new beat from the '80s." Our Beat Is Still New features contributions from Optimo's JD Twitch, Amsterdam-based pair Juju & Jordash, the Uncanny Valley trio of Jacob Korn, Credit 00 and Sneaker, Swedish techno veteran Aril Brikha, a "big name UK house producer who wishes to remain anonymous," and plenty of Belgian talent like Outlander, San Soda and Locked Groove. In a novel twist, each artist has been asked to adopt a new beat-style alias for the project. This means that Juju & Jordash become Azab & Crybaby J, while Red D is Max Erotic, Aril Brikha is The Assyrian Lover and Locked Groove is Frank De Wolf. The compilation will be released on four 12-inches—due out in June, September, October and November, as well as a digital bundle. You can listen to clips of all four tracks from the first EP on the We Play House SoundCloud page.
