  • Regis's long-standing Downwards imprint will launch a US counterpart, Downwards America, with a debut album from DVA Damas. As FACT report, the offshoot will be controlled by Regis's erstwhile Sandwell District partner Juan Mendez, AKA Silent Servant. Mendez already has an intimate understanding of the Downwards label, having co-run its post-punk and new wave-focused DO series for a number of years with Regis, and his first order of business will be to release a debut full-length from DVA Damas, called Nightshade. The L.A. based outfit first appeared on Downwards in 2010 with an impressive EP of frosted, lo-fi post-punk. FACT also revealed that the next two releases on the main Downwards label—which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013—will come from Samuel Kerridge and OAKE, with RA's Angus Finlayson describing the former's debut outing on Horizontal Ground last year as "perhaps the most singular talent the label has yet exposed."
