  • Bloc has cancelled the second day of its proposed two-day festival at London Pleasure Gardens. The events, which brought together a host of high profile techno and UK bass names, ran into a host of problems last night. Overcrowding was the main issue. Many ticket holders were not able to enter the grounds at all, and those who did faced enormous queues at each venue throughout the day and night. Music journalist Dan Hancox commented on twitter that the situation soon devolved into a "car crash". Additional police and security were called into the festival to help retain order as the event shut each stage one-by-one amid fears that the overcrowding would lead to more serious issues as the night progressed. Posting a simple message on their website early this morning, they stated:
"By now everyone will have heard that Bloc 2012 was closed due to crowd safety concerns. We are all absolutely devastated that this happened, but the safety of everyone on site was paramount. Given the situation on the ground, we feel that it was the right decision to end the show early. Bloc will not open on Saturday 7th July so please don’t come to the site. Stand by for full information on refunds."
Seeing little recourse for tonight's events, the organizers have decided to cancel the second night. We'll keep you posted over the course of the next week as more details emerge.
