  • 2DIY4, a new sub-label of the Hamburg-based imprint Diynamic, will launch in December with an EP by Solomun. Diynamic was founded in 2006 by Solomun and Adriano Trolio and has since housed lush deep house records by artists like H.O.S.H., Stimming and the label's founders. The name stemmed from a party Solomun and co. were throwing in Hamburg at the time called DIY, which also set a foundation for 2DIY4 (pronounced "to die for"). According to Solomun, the new label aims to be "more risky" than Diynamic, steering clear of what he considers "the typical four-to-the-floor club sound." Based on 2DIY4's first release, this means bringing in a more overt pop influence. The appropriately titled Love Recycled features three house edits of pop and R&B tunes, including one of Michael McDonald's '80s slow jam "I Keep Forgetting." Chatting by email earlier this week, Solomun filled us in on what made him take this route: "I made a track called 'Daddy's Jam' about three or four months ago with a similar concept. I didn't really have a plan with the track, so I sent it to some fellow DJs to play if they liked it. The feedback was enormous. One of them was Damian Lazarus and he ask me about my plans for the track, cause he loved it, so I gave it to him [for Crosstown Rebels]. Meanwhile I made some other tracks with he same concept... That was the motivation then to start the new label." Tracklist 01. Love Recycled 1 02. Love Recycled 2 03. Love Recycled 3 2DIY4 will release Love Recycled on December 6th, 2010.
