People know the saying less is more comes from the architect / designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. However Lessismore was reinvented in 2003 and given a new dimension which clearly comes across when interpreting the logo. Every negative can have a positive, so minus equal plus, lessismore!!
The goal of Lessismore is, to create awareness for the Lessismore philosophies and to change the general state of mind, which will hopefully give a new perspective on things and change the current course.
In 2003 lessismorecordings was founded by Gideon and MBC in Eindhoven (the light city) in the Netherlands. Eindhoven is known for its technology worldwide through Philips. What many do not know is that Philips also was a pioneer in doing the first electronic sound records. Coming from this city it is probably not unlikely that Gideon and MBC were influenced by their surroundings. Also the local techno scene with a lot of illegal parties had a major influence. These elements combined with their years of dj-ing and doing parties pushed them to a next chapter which was setting up their own label. Because lessismore tries to incorporated both the “negative” and the “positive”, Lessismore has two sides. A dark side represented by the black editions and the even catalog numbers with the exception of albums and special products. This side will predominately contain the raw styles like techno and electro. The warm and more sunny side will be represented by the white editions and the uneven catalog numbers with the exception of albums and special products. This side will predominately be more melodic and tech-house / house oriented.
