Curvve Recordings is a record label founded by Vinny Troia in 2003 that specializes in EDM. Since its inception, Curvve has been home to notable original and remix artists including David Guetta, Gareth Emery, Jerome Isma-ae, Wally Lopez, Oscar G, Max Graham, Vinny Troia, Abe Duque, Chris Fortier, Steve Porter, Dave Aude, and many more.
A long time DJ himself, Troia created Curvve with the intention of making a big impact through legal remixes of classic songs. The first of these was his remix of Ultra Nate’s “Free”, a track he obtained the rights for through the bankruptcy proceedings of Ultra Nate’s label, Strictly Rhythm. A popular remix of Joi Cardwell’s “Soul to Bear” soon followed, and in 2004 Troia released his own music through Curvve for the first time, doing so with a track called “Expressive.” Thanks in part to a remix by techno legend Abe Duque, “Expressive” debuted on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection show on Radio 1 in the UK and made it into the Top 10 on Beaport. Curvve obtained its first number one single in September 2005 when Peace Biscuit’s official remix of Jody Watley’s “Looking For a New Love” reached the top spot on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart.
Despite the label’s success with remixes of vocal pop songs from 2003 - 2005, Troia opted to venture into more experimental, underground music in the years following. Many creations in this vein by the likes of Gareth Emery, Dave Aude, Jay Lumen, Jerome Isma-ae, Starkillers, Fine Taste, and notably David Guetta’s remix of Chris Willis’s “My Freedom” all earned top 10 status on Beatport. Curvve’s first published compilation Curvve Vol 1: Live at Miso was also released during this era and, due to its positive reception, led to the release of many more compilations in the years that followed. Curvve marked its ten year anniversary in 2013 with the release of progressive house track “Fade Into You,” Troia’s most recent creation.
