More Or Less

About

  • More Or Less is the creative vision of Patrick Brander and Craig Sopo. While currently residing in and around Baltimore, the two met during college back in Michigan, where Patrick hosted a critically-acclaimed weekly electronic music show – “The Mechanical Pulse.” The show featured Michigan-based DJs and producers including Craig, Blank Artists, Clark Warner and The Detroit Techno Militia. Coincidentally, both individuals moved out to Baltimore one year apart, Craig in 2005 and Patrick in 2006. It wasn’t until Patrick began promoting a local music night that they found a small but devout techno audience in a seedy little club off of North Ave. While most promoters seek a catchy name to peddle their wares, the oft-said “More Or Less” phrase fit like a sequin studded glove. It melded perfectly with the group’s tongue-in-cheek posters which poke fun at celebrities, government officials, and themselves. The musical selections ran the gamut from electro and techno to disco, dub-step and ghetto-tech. Whatever BPM, the dial was always set to face-melt. Ultimately MOL was an illegitimate bastard child in a town rooted in Rock and Roll. As label incarnate, MOL represents a deep hued spectrum of music culling from influences as varied as Detroit Techno and Baltimore Club to Intelligent Dance Music and German Minimal. The label was originally intended strictly as an outlet for Baltimore based techno producers but has rapidly expanded with the new friendships the label has forged. Our insatiable appetite for bringing new music to audiences both local and abroad is what continually motivates us.
