About

  • ‘BergmannZuFuss’ is more than just another label - it's the platform of the "2nd BERLIN SKOOL" of club music. A network of (mostly) Berlin based club musicians who relate their work to the musical spirit of Berlin's early 90ies ("1st Berlin Skool"). Paradoxically, this means, that they are a forward thinking club music bunch. As you can read in their manifesto: + Minimal vs. Maximal: “They say ‘the past is the past’, but its better parts might make a good future”. Back in the days, the difference between warm, groovy House and hard, minimalist Techno was not yet made into a credo. And thus the Berlin club culture thrived. But today, the Minimal paradigm has lead into a cul-de-sac. Hence, a 2nd BERLIN SKOOL emerges, an open platform that is inspired by contemporary thought of “recombinant cultures” – and by Berlin’s eclectic club music roots. + Track vs. Lied: “The time of faceless beat tools (club music 1.0) is over!” In a time of a literal release flood, you have to come up with something better that that. Namely, a memorable piece of music. 2nd BERLIN SKOOL is all about quality, exciting recombinations, and emotional depth. + Producer vs. Cooperative: “The single ingenious artist (producer 1.0) is dead!” (R.I.P.). Today, the spirit of networking creates exchange, innovation, less ego, less copyright shit, and ultimately better musical results. 2nd BERLIN SKOOL may start per default by putting out virtual EPs, but will soon be all about new forms of musical collaborations - watch out for this on BergmannZuFuss. + DJ vs. Liveact: Let's face it – “Vinyl has become obsolete!” Nice to have, but completely unnecessary. With tools like Traktor and Ableton Live, DJing and Liveacting are becoming one. And Beatmatching nothing more than a useful, but ubiquitous (software) resource. 2nd BERLIN SKOOL is all about liberating the creative potential of club performers.
