Supergenius Records is based on DJ Koyote's and Too Smooth Christ’s musical backgrounds. Their imprint explores various genres and take many different directions, influenced by their obsession for Detroit and Chicago electronic music but also '70s synth music, soul and blaxpoitation and '90s ambient – imagine having Mr Fingers, Omar S, Curtis Mayfield, Aphex Twin and Ryuichi Sakamoto caught in a studio with only a karaoke machine. The releases will reflect Koyote's and TSC’s idiosyncratic approaches to production : on the outside looking in and creating a new sound, messing up with singular rhythm patterns and oblique time signatures, weird samples and eerie textures. What they will all have in common is a desire to surprise, a forward-thinking attitude and a positive inability to be pigeon-holed.
