About

  • PROVIDING DHUTTY MUSIK SINCE 1998 The 2000BLACK collective established in 1998 by 4Hero's Dego, was named after a 1975 Roy Ayers' recording. Inspired by its lyrics "Think About the Future, Think About Think About, Change", the label and band formed a platform where any genre of music rooted in "the groove" would be displayed. Learning from the past and looking toward the future, 2000BLACK set course a trip welcoming all musical elements and experiences that they would encounter during their musical voyage. As a result, many contrasting songs were released such as Pariss Clemons' (r.i.p.) 'Black Mary' to Seiji's 'Run', Bembe Segue's 'Take Me To Tomorrow' to Capitol's 'Doing It Up'. With all this variance one thread of continuity remained - the funk and the soul. 2000BLACK's debut cd "A Next Set A Rockers" was well received globally by DJ's such as BBC 1Xtra's Benji B., New York City's A.P.T. Rib Shack with Rich Medina and Radio 1's Giles Peterson. Previous 2000BLACK's cds that have been eagerly anticipated were the "Good Good" compilations, Silhouette Brown's debut LP and DKD's "Future Rage" jointly produced with Bugs In The Attic. These releases were instrumental in shaping the West London scene. Since 1998, 2000BLACK has hosted an annual party alongside DBS in Tokyo inviting various DJs from around the globe to spin. In addition, 2000BLACK has toured extensively in both Europe and Asia performing live at festivals and events.
