  • Steven Cee's life in music is impressive for the age at which he became involved in the scene, the entrepreneurial spirit with which he's run his myriad ventures and the breadth of his experience as both creative and business owner. He's been DJing parties since age 13. By 16, he was working in a record shop called Release The Groove, eventually becoming head buyer and building relationships with producers whose CDs of unreleased material he'd cut to dubplate to test at parties and pirates. By 18 he'd started his own online shop, Avalanche Music, selling the latest grime releases, while simultaneously starting a distribution company for CDs and getting grime onto the racks of big box stores like HMV. At 20 he took over ownership of the brick-and-mortar record shop Rhythm Division before becoming a promoter in 2011. His work in this last role will be known to many a Londoner. With Audiowhore, he successfully mixed demographics of ravers and styles of house into parties that would regularly move tickets in the thousands. He also cofounded Siesta and helped relaunch Eskimo Dance with Wiley, who he's known since the Release The Groove days when he was in the midst of garage's transition into grime. In conversation with Marcus Barnes, Steven shares his truly impressive story.
