  • Apart from being one of a small number of Black booking agents in the UK, Hannah Shogbola's career in music has seen her progress through a series of lauded institutions, culminating in the founding of her creative consultancy DAJU in 2020. While still in her teens, she worked in broadcasting with BBC Radio before joining the booking team at fabric and was later scooped up as an assistant by WME, one of the world's most historic and prestigious talent agencies. By the time she was 30, she was running her own roster at Echo Location Talent and managed to sell out Brixton Academy, The Roundhouse and The Forum with clients Kurupt FM. Her experience comes together in DAJU, which fuses her industry knowledge with a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Since launch, DAJU secured the first Afrobeats showcase at SXSW, booked West African stars like Tomi Agape and Loshh, and provided D&I consultancy for institutions like University of Westminster and The British Council. In conversation with Andrew Mensah for RA's ongoing collaboration with Black Minds Matter, Shogbola traces the arc of her career. Read a transcription of this podcast.
