  • Despite being known for his hyper-detailed production skills, Clark always has a tracks' best interests at heart. Since releasing his first record on Warp back in 2001, he's increasingly broadened his emotional palette by embracing a wide variety of acoustic sources, feeling at ease with everything from harpsichords to Bach. He's also a prodigiously prolific artist, releasing nine albums, a slew of EPs and handling a host of commissions for theatre and screen over the past 17 years. While he says he can spend two hours tweaking two seconds of music, he's always producing more tracks than he's able to release, reflecting an almost masochistic dedication to the creative process. Speaking to staff writer Matt McDermott for RA's conference programme at Dekmantel Festival, we hear about how his approach has matured since his debut record, playing Slayer at Berghain and the importance of electronic artists embracing chance and spontaneity in their work.
