  • Glasgow's finest reflect on a life in dance music.

  • With nearly 30 years in the game, Slam have weathered pretty much every trend that's passed through electronic music. Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle cut their teeth with residencies at Glasgow venues like Tin Pan Alley before playing their first gig at the city's famed Sub Club in 1989. After scoring a breakthrough hit with "Positive Education" in 1993, the duo released Daft Punk's first records, and established their label, Soma, as one of Europe's most reliable outlets for dance music. Fast forward 20 years, and Soma is still going strong. The label recently released its 400th record, and the milestone single came from Slam themselves. These days their empire also includes radio, TV and a production school. Chatting at our London headquarters, McMillan and Meikle spent some time looking back on their career to date while also casting an eye to the future, with a new album set for release in October.
