- For the past decade, Stuart Li has made a name for himself in dance music as Basic Soul Unit. His tunes, brittle yet wonderfully thumping, have found fans across club genres, landing on labels as diverse as Dolly, Nonplus and Mathematics, plus the Lab.our Music imprint he runs with Jason Ulrich. It's made him something of an international concern, despite hailing from a city—Toronto—that's not especially renowned for its electronic music scene. When Li came by our Berlin office earlier this month, he explained why he's not expecting to relocate closer to the European market anytime soon, and how he balances fatherhood with his life as a musical obsessive.
