In collaboration with ArtSpace Barcelona, Barcelona City FM presents a night of low-fi beats, hip-hop vibes and nu-jazz sounds.
Nu Epoque are a Barcelona based nu soul-electro-jazz trio founded by Simonal Bie, singer and beat maker from Mozambique and Italian pianist Leonardo Cincinelli. A unique world of electronic beats and african polirhythyrs giving space to the harmonies and lyrical poetry of Monica Mussungo. Live performances combine futuristic electronic beats with melody and groove suggesting influences of J Dilla, Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Fela Kuti, Thudercat, Floating Points and Elaquent.
Joining us will be Friday night delights Track Family with guest ESCO to 'drop it like its hot'.
Barcelona City FM 'Almost There' radio host DJ and digger Louie Headnod who has played alongside international acts mad professor, de la soul, slum village, the pharcyde, pharaohe monche and many more. Expect turntablism, classics you know and dance floor killers that you don't.
Taking us into the night will be DJ Millie who has worked with the likes of Trevor Nelson on Kiss FM and more recently Patrick Forge at the 'London Connection' parties at Guzzo. When asked what she plays in her sets: "if it's got some funk in it, i'll play it!' Is her response. A musical journey of soul, funk, afrobeat, hip-hop and soulful house, a true delight for the ears and a Friday night disco-down.
Drinks available at the bar.
This event will be audio and video streamed live via www.barcelonacityfm.com and http://artspacebarcelona.com/
