For our first event of 2017, we're aiming for the stars the vinyl-hunting legend that is Nick The Record for his Sydney debut performance.
Nick is a global crate digger and record dealer extraordinaire, and has been heavily involved in the underground music scene for the past 25 years, hunting down the rarest of dance floor nuggets for a client list that reads like a who's who of the worldwide DJ scene.
Whilst spending most of his time in Japan, over the last couple of years Nick has become globally recognised with celebrated sets at Dekmantel Selectors Festival & Phonox with MCDE, Garden Festival in Croatia, Sunset Campout in California, STARVUE(New York), DOLPHIN & TRESLE (Philadephia), CONCRETE (Paris), CRUQUIUSGILDE(Amsterdam), ABOUT BLANK & SAMEHEADS (Berlin) as well as regular gigs in his UK home town Brighton at PATTERNS alongside heavy hitters Maurice Fulton, Horse Meat Disco, Danielle Baldelli & Red Rack’Em.
But Nick's deepest passion is for his regular Tangent parties in London with John Gomez where the two selectors dig deep into their record collections spinning everything from Afro-Arab Disco and sun-kissed tropical rarities to Deep Soul & Electronic gems. After our own hearts, the emphasis is on top quality sound, with custom speakers & an audiophile analog DJ setup that's unrivalled in Europe.
Back to the day jobs, Nick runs the Record Mission edits imprint with Dan Tyler from The Idjut Boys, the duo also recently scoring a hit with their rework of Robot Jam for the Emotional Rescue label. Other releases include comping duties for Joey Negro's Under The Influence Volume 4, two volumes of Disco Juice for Counterpoint Records and a raft of original material on the Nuphonic, Ene & 20/20 Vision labels.
It all goes down over two floors of the Oxford Circus, Darlinghursy, with the always on point Boogie Monster, EdSeven and Queen Shirene holding down the lounge, plus NMTB residents Pete Dot and InnerWestSoul. Grab a ticket from Resident Advisor without delay - limited early birds are just $15.....
