Circuit with Nekes & Hector

  • In the past few years the 'Oslo' imprint has been behind some fantastic music in that warm area between techno and house. That music has come from a new wave of international talent, artists like Johnny D, Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts, Christian Burkhadt, and Ray Okpara. On 21st March we welcome in one of the men behind the label, Nekes. Though originally from Greece, like so many others he has found his spiritual home in Germany where he has the distinction of being a resident for Time Warp. His ‘Cristal’ track on 'Oslo' is a wonderful example of his sound, driving yet full of soul, think 90’s classic house music but updated for 21st Century dance floors. Another man who epitomises that sound is Circuit resident Enzo Siragusa. Over the past 12 months he has shaped Circuit around wonderful crisp productions of deep grooving house. He has also worked closely with a new breed of young DJs like Chrissy Maranello. Big things are expected of Chrissy by those who have seen and heard him develop over the past couple years. Technically proficient, and with a naturally engaging sound it’s always a pleasure to have him play at Circuit. Completing the line up upstairs tonight will be Hector. Always deep, always soulful, Hector oozes style behind the decks; his sound is made for Saturday night at Sosho. Down in the lounge things gets serious. A heavier disco line up you will not find in London this evening. Joining our resident Toni Rossano - of Strutt Records, Uptown Safari and Blackbeard fame - are two DJs who have been at the forefront of London's disco musical renaissance. As co-author of "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" and founder of the fantastic Low Life & Faith parties, Bill Brewster is a man who has literally been there, done that and written the book. Basement Jaxx associate and Rooty co-founder Frank Tope has emerged from Brixton to take the dance music world by storm with his uniquely anarchic brand of house and disco. Drawing upon a record collection of gargantuan proportions, Frank mixes jackin' house, old skool Chicago and Italo-disco, throwing in the odd acapella interlude.
