  • Sumo Sonic, Kings Cross's biggest weekly club night makes the trip down to Canberra, for a huge night of Sumo Sized madness at Lot 33 on Friday 2nd September. We're gonna be saving all those Canberrians who travel up to see us on a regular basis, petrol money, and this time we're coming to your place. If that wasn't big enough news, we're bringing the legendary DJ/Producer/Remixer Ian Carey along for the ride, for an exclusive Canberra show as part of his extensive Australasian tour. Ian is probably one of the most prolific Producer/Remixer’s of current times. Ian’s first releases included “Rise” the worldwide clubsmash under the name of the Soul Providers, with long time collaborator Jason Papillon, and countless solo productions including "The Power" on Defected/Fluential Records. With Jason as Soul Providers they have remixed records by King Britt/Ursula Rucker, Silverstone, Hardsoul and E-Smoove (AKA Thick Dick). On the solo tip, Ian has remixed records by Kid Crème, Danny Marquez and Ferry B., Dina Vass, Stonebridge, Cindi Lauper and Blue Chakra, as well as the current club hit “Feelin’ Love” by Soulsearcher for labels such as Defected, Élan, Hed Kandi, Soulfuric and Houseworks. DJ wise, Ian is very busy in The Netherlands (where he's now based), and all over Europe, he has played in countries such as Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Poland, The Ukraine, Austria, England, Spain, Canada, and the USA. He also finds time to run his multimedia company Élan Media, which includes Élan Rouge and Élan Bleu Recordings. Ian will be supported by the promoter of Sumo Sonic Bob Frisky (Sumo/Home Sydney) and local boys Chris Fraser and Mikah Freeman.
