Wild Combination with Cooly G, Manara and E.M.M.A

  • After our sold out launch party with Nidia Minaj, DEBONAIR and Reckonwrong we return for our second edition. On Friday 20th May we welcome Cooly G (Hyperdub), Manara (Night Slugs / Fade To Mind) and E.M.M.A. (Angel Food / Coyote Records), who’ll be joined by resident Pure Joy. This time we’ll be at The Yard in Hackney Wick, which will be kitted out with a new sound system custom built for the space. Cooly G https://soundcloud.com/coolyg We couldn’t agree more with The Wire’s recent description of Cooly G’s music as “among London’s strangest and most sublime”. After turning heads with a string of CDRs on her own Dub Organizer label, she found a natural home in Hyperdub, releasing EPs and albums ranging in style from UK Funky anthems Narst / Love Dub to the smoky R&B of her latest LP Wait 'Til Night. She continues to release dance floor-oriented singles, most recently the Armz House EP, and self-released a treasure trove of old dubs earlier this year. Cooly G has also toured the world, playing at Sonar, Fabric, Berghain and Unsound Festival. 2016 looks to be a busy year for her, so we’re delighted to host her for a 2hr set in an intimate space. Manara https://soundcloud.com/fadermedia/fader-mix-manara-1 Manara has been DJing at Night Slugs and Fade To Mind parties since they began, and over the last year or so has presented one of London station Radar Radio’s most essential shows as part of the DJ trio BBC AZN Network, as well as playing at Jam City’s Earthly party alongside the Janus crew. Most recently, she released a mix for The FADER, a perfect showcase for her idiosyncratic blend of Bollywood film music, R&B instrumentals, and grime. E.M.M.A. http://soundcloud.com/oiiemma London based DJ and producer E.M.M.A. has many strings to her bow: her album on Keysound garnered acclaim across the board; she helms the Angel Food show on Radar Radio with Aimee Cliff, and has made DJ mixes for the likes of Thump and Clash. She recently launched an FL Studio workshop for young women wanting to learn music production with Ikonika, Dexplicit and P Jam, and has new releases in the pipeline for 2016.
