Ninja Tune Sxsw 2016

  • Ninja Tune are pleased to announce a label-sponsored showcase at a brand-new, official SXSW venue on Friday, March 18. The centrally-located 800-capacity warehouse space will play host to a mix of live artists and DJ sets from underground music’s newest and most pivotal names. Featured on the night are Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah (fresh off recent collaborative work with Adrian Younge, BadBadNotGood and MF DOOM) and Moodymann, whose techno-via-soul hybrid as head of Detroit’s Mahogani Music earned him esteemed DJ Kicks mix honours last month. They join Ninja Tune and Brainfeeder affiliates Machinedrum, Taylor McFerrin, DJ Paypal and Iglooghost as well as bright underground dance talent Leon Vynehall to round out an evening steeped in the diverse (but always joyfully contrarian) sound palettes for which the label has become well-known. Visual mastermind Strangeloop, responsible for the captivating live shows of Flying Lotus and The Weeknd among others, will provide a backdrop for the sonic excursions and complete one of the week’s most standout bills. The showcase is presented in collaboration with GoPro as part of their new project Music Labs, working with creatives of all sizes and walks of life to create new music, videos and stories with various artists.
