Tropicana with Pete Herbert

  • After a well deserved Xmas break Tropicana rolls into 2009 with special guest Pete Herbert (Reverso 68) and Wandy (Chibuku) 'The weekly free Sunday soiree with Sunday Roasts, Fine Beverages, Cocktails, Music, Laughter and plenty of Disco Dancing' The free weekly disco which has taken East London by storm returns for lots more weekly fun at the fantastic Horse and Groom Pub with a sound system most clubs would love to own, two lovely floors and with top gourmet chef Christian Penwill at the helm ( his Homemade Pies and Tarts are as good as they get) and Tropicana residents Neil Thornton (Lasermagnetic) and Danny Clark (Late Night Audio) at the helm. If you want a great Sunday Sunday soiree with Sunday tuck, Fine Beverages, Cocktails, Music, Laughter and plenty of Disco Tropicana is right up your street. 2009 looks like its going to be a lot of fun @ The 'Disco Pub' as it is fondly known as. Pete Herbert One time proprietor of the infamous Atlas Records shop in Soho, London over a decade ago, Pete divides his time these days either behind the wheels of steel at clubs and parties around Europe or in the studio working solo or with friends on their various musical projects... For Eskimo Recordings in Belguim Pete releases as Reverso 68 with the balearic timelord himself Phil Mison releasing recent classics such as Tokyo Disko, Especial and have just re-released Piece Together (with Todd Terje on remix duty) as well as remixing the likes of Juan Maclean, Ajello, Bent and Badly Drawn Boy amoungst others and are currently working towards an album due out soon. Pete and Phil also record as Frontera for Danish label Music For Dreams, and are currently recording album number 2 for them. Pete also records as LSB alongside Barcelonas finest DJ and club terrorist Babyg. Two monster hits for Eskimo, plus two mini albums-worth of re-edits on their own label Superdiscoteca in the last few year and a string of peaktime dancefloor remixes for the likes of Ilija Rudman, Low Motion Disco and Brazilian band The Pink Monkey Flowers have seen the LSB sound rise to the fore in recent times.Pete also records as Bakazou for his label Specialist Interests and under his own name on remix duty. When not in the studio Pete can be found regularly behind the decks at places such as Fabric in his native London and other forward thinking clubs around Europe such as Mondos and Goa in Madrid, Cafe Capitol and Make up in Belguim and has recently and regularly done stints djing in Brazil, Goa,Lithuania, Paris, Ibiza,Tel Aviv and beyond... expect a unexpected mix of Balearic leftfield disco/house/italo/dub/funk and beyond!! Wandy A resident at Chibuku Shake Shake since day one, over the past 8 years Wandy has played alongside some of the biggest names in dance music (Groove Armada, Ame, Digitalism, Slam, Ivan Smagghe, Nic Fanciulli, Radioslave, Paul Woolford to name a few), and guest DJ'd at some of the best clubs & events in the world (Fabric, Creamfields, Priviledge, Club Vinyl (Warsaw), Expo (Kiev), Cameo (Miami), Basics, Bugged Out, Sonar). He's also landed another residency along the way, at The End's notorious after-hours party 'Jaded', where he plays monthly alongside the likes of Clive Henry, Giles Smith, Geddes & Style of Eye. Musically he plays everything from disco to techno, but at Tropicana he'll be digging deep into his disco vaults to serve up some special treats for us.
