Started as an after-hours at London’s Turnmills, VVWI has since become an international institution in dance music. From warehouses across the UK and Europe to free illegal beach parties in Ibiza and DC10, the night has become a gallant success and has been described by DJ magazine as “deliciously sideways”. Offering a twisted take on minimal house and techno the London brand has also spawned a record label, Veryverywrongindeed Recordings boasting a catalogue of releases from the likes of Spektre and Richard Seeley and Andre Crom. The night has extended the Ibiza concept of freakish oddball partying to all corners of the underground scene and now Junk and Southampton can be considered under the same sublime stamp as we welcome Tim Sheridan back. Sheridan has maintained his respected underground reputation despite hitting top spot in the UK dance charts with his animated pop act Dope Smugglaz. The first DJ to perform at Glastonbury he has continued an annual festival crusade keeping a firm grip on the Ibiza scene over the years at Space and Manumission. His music ventures have proved he is one not to be pigeonholed making a distinct effort to cut away from all that is conceptualised in dance. With residencies and guest appearances at some of the countries most notorious nightspots such as Cream, Fabric, The End, Home and Ministry of Sound his DJing career has spanned over two decades. Sheridan has previously elaborated on the concept of VVWI by describing it as “WONKY WEIRDO RECORDS THAT CONFUSE THE FUCK OUT OF YOU SOBER NEVER MIND ON KETAMINE” which illuminates his enthusiasm for what he plays. The brand hosts a stable of DJ’s including Mr. C, Jo Mills, King Roc and Mike Monday but this week he’ll be aided by new underground maestro Shane Watcha. Watcha has featured at some of London’s top nights and venues including Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, The Cross and Home but began his career in a small humble bar in his native South Africa. Soon becoming a known face on the capital’s circuit his career has seen him headlining all over the world as he continues with a relentless international gig schedule. Known widely for his slamming sets of stripped back raw techno he has shared the booth with many a respected name including Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter and Boy George but has come into his own taking the reins with a long time residency at London’s Circo Loco at The End. He’s also the mastermind of Shoreditch after-hours ‘Zombies Ate My Brain’ which has hijacked AKA on a monthly basis with Jaded, an institution with the Sunday morning crew.
