After the phenomenal demand for Fatima Yamaha’s album launch (taking place this month at London Fields Brewhouse), we felt it only right to offer another date, this time in the fitting confines of Village Underground, the perfect setting for Yamaha’s second live show in the capital.
Responsible for perhaps one of the most loved, hyped and played ‘underground electronic’ records of recent times, Fatima first released ‘Whats A Girl To Do’ via Magnetron Music in 2004 at the time slipped quietly under the radar.
However, the saying goes ‘the cream rises to the top’, and it wasn’t too long until this became the case with Hudson Mohawke and Jackmaster being recognised among the first tastemakers to pick up on the record and contribute towards turning it into a modern day classic, finally giving it the attention and success it deserved.
Vinyl copies of the record were as rare as rocking-horse shit and unless you were able to take out a considerable bank lone to buy up one of the few copies on Discogs, you didn’t stand a chance. Fortunately, Dutch label Dekmantel reissued the record along with other Yamaha tracks ‘Plum Jelly’, ‘Between Worlds’ and ‘Half Moon Rising’ - tracks that may have been overshadowed by ‘Whats a Girl..’ but in other contexts were individually deserved of similar musical merit.
Plans to release Yamaha's first full length album 'Imaginary Lines' on Magnetron Music are well underway with a release date set for November 27th.
The first glimpse of his live show for many was broadcasted on Boiler Room during Dekmantel Festival. Many were intrigued to see if his performance would live up to the expectations created by his timeless productions, and few could say they were disappointed. DJ support will come from the ever capable and diverse selector Bradley Zero.
Tickets for this event will go on sale on Wednesday 11th November at 1pm, again we expect these to sell very quickly so please be quick to avoid disappointment!
