Galway's underground music night Lowerstate are having their next foray into sound Christmas Week upcoming, with the much acclaimed TV and radio presenter Donal Dineen hits the decks for a special night of electronic and world music.
One of the most prominent voices for alternative music in Ireland, Donal's show, 'Here Comes The Night', was first aired on the opening day of Today FM's existence (17 March 1997), and continued broadcasting on a national level for exactly seven years. Also known for presenting the No Disco TV series on Network 2, Donal now hosts The Small Hours every weekday on Today FM, presenting a wide selection of music to ease you into the night. Donal's ability to bring new sounds to the shores of Ireland has gained him a loyal listenership, and his DJ sets embrace everything from deep house and soulful techno, to dubstep, reggae and soul.
Donal has played at the Body and Soul stage of Electric Picnic for the last 2 years, and recently showcased video work from 2008 alongside the seven-piece collective '3epkano' as part of a sellout show for the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival held in the National Gallery in October.
