On Sunday 27th September come and dance a day away at the Bussey Building, Peckham, and help fellow humans to find refuge.
Dance for Refuge is an opportunity to aid those ill and injured in their escape from war and famine by raising funds for Médecins Sans Frontières. In the first 100 days of their Mediterranean search and rescue operations, MSF rescued and treated over 11,000 people at risk of drowning. All donations will go towards the continuation of these efforts. There will be no entrance fee, but a minimum contribution of £10 is suggested. It will also double as a donation drop point in support of Calais Action, who provide food and basic provisions for refugees camped in squalid conditions at Calais. Please bring with you, old or new: tents, sturdy shoes, pots and pans, belts, blankets and travelling bags. Find Calais Action’s full list of badly needed items below.
Let’s channel the good fortune by which we do not find ourselves fleeing our homes; smuggling ourselves across rough waters; risking our lives; losing our friends and our families; or finding ourselves stranded at train stations and ferry ports, into something that provides care and support to those without it.
Dance for Refuge – Music as hope, from London to Calais and beyond. In solidarity.
