Postpone Tomorrow, Live Tonight

  • Join us Saturday December 6 at Katra for a legendary and special night of minimal and house as Immigrant Records head honcho Robin Porter makes his sole 2008 New York appearance, fresh off his London T-Bar residency. Lance Jordan, Brion Vytlacil, and Gil K add their own sounds to the night. Doors open at 11 AM. This is an RSVP Only event, RSVP to [email protected] ROBIN PORTER (Immigrant Records) Robin Porter is founder of Immigrant Industries; home to 3 globally respected Independent record labels and a decade strong design studio rooted in the fashion industry. He has proved himself a world class DJ and a poignant music producer, representing the “Immigrant” sound, performed at many of the most prestigious venues around the globe. Taking inspiration from the Acid House era of the late 80’s, the sultry texture of Chicago house, the off key melodies of Detroit techno and the revolutionary sounds of legendary house music pioneers such as Adonis, Larry Heard, Juan Atkins, Marshall Jefferson and the infamous Farley Jackmaster Funk, Robin’s style combines his European roots with the US sound experienced first-hand via eight years in the US city of Los Angeles. Having co-produced with well-respected producers Kenneth Graham and Lucas Rodenbush, Robin has enjoyed numerous club residencies in Los Angeles, and DJ’s regularly at venues worldwide including Pacha (Buenos Aires), OSA Club (Mendoza), The Limelight (New York), Robots (New York), Sonic (Montevideo), Avalon (Los Angeles), T-Bar (London), Sullivan Room (New York), Aurora Club (Split), Zentraus (Barcelona), Polar TV (Berlin), Cafe D’Anvers (Antwerp) and Folies Pigalle (Paris). Having formed Hand on Throat in 2007 with one-time Immigrant label manager Dave Martin, performed at the Miami WMC alongside Matthew Dear and Slam, and toured South America, in 2008 Robin currently holds a residency with Immigrant A&R manager Ste Roberts at T-Bar, London. A year thus far seen through in style with time spent investing in new talent at the Immigrant label whilst continuing to DJ at some of the world’s prime locations (Mobilee Loves, Berlin; BeCool, Barcelona; Toibar, Toronto), Robin Porter shows no signs of slowing down. Long may he continue!
