The leaves are well shorn from the trees and the night's of London have grown colder but the hot spots of nightlife activity is one of sheer indulgence as Playback returns fresh from celebrating it's 3rd birthday - bigger and better to host our final party in 2008 - Playback's 'Christmas Crackers' Saturday 20th December 2008.
To see out the end of the hyper activities and craziness of a year that has been 2008, Playback is celebrating all that has made this year one to remember.
To help us, making his Salmon & Compass debut, we've pulled out all the stops for this December special - our prize 'Christmas Crackers'.
The legendary Paul 'Trouble' Anderson is stepping in to bring his inimitable flair of style and patter to the decks with a fierce selection of classic boogie tunes and definitive dance floor tracks to Playback, while Soul Brother Records' Mr Johnny Reckless will be throwing down a connoisieur collection of Afro house deepness, funk, jazz and neo soul gems along with resident first lady Marcia Carr adding a balance of soulful funkiness and broken beat nuggets to the night.
Designed to be inspiring, uplifting and bringing joy to your soul, Playback is the monthly party session for those mature in their taste of the underground. For more than three years hostess and first lady DJ Macia Carr has spent time fine-tuning Playback's concept. Continuing with her commitment to showcase soulfully inspirational dance music, with some established names (Phil Asher, Simon Lee (Faze action), Orin Walters aka Afronaut, Dez Parkes, Rap Saunders, Kev Beadle, Zed Bias, Alan Russell) and other music buddies who deserve a turn in the spotlight (Fitzroy da Buzzboy, Dante, Craig Batlett, Lady M & M, KLGee, Dave VJ (Choice FM), DJ Fitz - those who've been doing their thing under the radar for a long time.
Following three marvellous years at MP we are now at the renowned Salmon and Compass, Islington, located on the corner of Penton Street and Chapel Market.
We look forward to your company with our 'Christmas Cracker' hot pick of tunes galore and cult club classics - we're "gonna make this a night to remember" as Shalamar say.
