If you know techno, then you know Quenum. Philippe Quenum began his DJ career in the 1980’s, finding himself attracted to the hip-hop and dance moves he found on display in London nightclubs. There, he founded his first record label, Access 58, where his talents for producing groovy, positive tracks with heavy baselines did not go unnoticed. In 2002, he founded the famed Cadenza label with Luciano. Their very first release, “Orange Mistake,” endures as one of the most successful techno tracks of the decade.
Quenum’s productions exemplify his African and Caribbean heritage with their inviting baselines and joyous, dance-provoking undertones. His crowd-pleasing sets have landed him gigs throughout the world and EPs on Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Thema, Serialism, Systematic, Soma, Trapez, and Contexterrior, among others. His music also appears on many infamous compilations such as Fabric (Carl Craig mix), NovaMute and Cocoon.
Quenum now runs Clapper records from Geneva, Switzerland and dabbles in experimental projects such as live performances for London Fashion Week and composing soundtracks for documentaries. We are thrilled to have this eclectic and multi-talented artist perform in our intimate venue and expect nothing less than sonic magic!
