Disko Dubz will be bringing some of the best international, national and local artists and DJ’s from the World of House music to the amazing new club Schneerot in Freiburg, Germany. Held once a month with residents DJ Darren and Major Lee Blunt from the Insel Affe Crew. www.inselaffe.org Tom Gianelli’s DJ’ing career began in 1989, and in no time Tom was spinning alongside now well-known DJ’s and producers like Todd Terry, Paul Oakenfold, Robert Owens, Marshal Jefferson, DJ Disciple, Paul “Trouble” Anderson, Bobby & Steve Norman Jay and Kerri Chandler to name but a few. Tom is without doubt one of the old school pioneers and promoters of what has now become the music of choice for thousands of clubs and DJ’s around the world, House Music! Over the past 17 years he has played at every significant venue that you can think of, from the ‘Ministry Of Sound’ And Pacha, to the legendary ‘Roxy’ and ‘Sound Factory Bar’ in Manhattan, NY. As well as the USA Tom has DJ’d in Canada, Australia, Asia and most major European cities. Although Tom’s spinning style has always been at the cutting edge of the music genre, he tends to shy away from the strictly upfront sound adopted by many headline DJ’s or what happens to be flavour of the month, and has a reputation for really getting the session jumping, with a mix of new and exclusive music as well some totally unexpected classics and hard to find gems pulled from his huge collection of music compiled over the past 25 years. Tom has recently returned to Europe having spent the past year touring Australia, putting on hold long-term residencies in the UK and Germany plus guest spots at other venues in and around Europe. 1994 saw Tom honing his creative skills in the studio, resulting in his first release ‘The Old Dub Plates EP’, this track gained critical acclaim from many top DJ’s, and was used by Kiss FM as one of their jingles. The release led to Tom being signed to Grant Nelson’s ‘Swing City Records’ www.swingcity.co.uk - one of the UK’s most prolific house labels. His talents as a producer and remixer quickly became apparent, with countless productions and superb remixes of huge tracks like ‘Step 2 Me’ by Grant Nelson, along side MJ Cole on Virgin Records and the Latin smash hit follow up to ‘Cada Vez’ - ‘Aquela Esquina’ by Negrocan, also remixed by John ‘Julius’ Knight and licensed to Universal Music. This was, without doubt the track of the 2001 Miami Winter Music Conference. ‘Aquela Esquina’ & ‘Cada Vez ‘are both recognised globally as 2 of the biggest Latin House trax of all time, and are still gracing dance floors all over the world more than 5 years after there release date. Tom’s re-mix of ‘Aquela Esquina’ certainly helped boost his notoriety as a producer and remixer to a wider global audience. Tom’s keen ear for a good tune resulted in his appointment as production manager for Swing City Records from 2000 to 2002. Whilst at Swing City Tom continued to produce and remix tracks for many other well-known labels and went on to set up his own label in 2002 ‘Soul Purpose Records’ The Label became a massive success over night with support and praise from many top DJ’s and producers. The popularity of the label continued to grow, and After a relatively short time, Tom was invited to do a live PA of the label’s fifth release ‘Makin Love’ featuring the huge vocal talents of Juliet Roberts, in the world famous BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge! Having moved on from ‘Soul Purpose Records’ Tom is now fully focused on DJ-ing, producing and creating his new Record label & Production outfit. Look out and keep your eyes and ears peeled - the best is definitely yet to come - you’ve been warned!
