    HARRI & Solab (live)

  • Next week is Halloween weekend and this year Subculture has set the theme as Sci-Fi! All space cadets geared up in alien garb, touting lasers and coming over all Barbarella/Star Wars etc will earn free entry!! Out of this world visuals will be beamed directly into your cerebrums by the SkyRocket Ideas crew and the bar will be touting a mysterious galactic brew guaranteed to send you to the moon. Joining Harri on the night will be Glasgow-based production duo, Solab. Emerging in 2005 with their “Shift” EP on Glasgow’s 7th Sign Recordings, the single found favour with the likes of Laurent Garnier and the Split radio crew (Sims and Finke). A constant love affair with Detroit techno, Chicago House and all things electronic helped Graham Wilson and Ross McMillan develop a style rooted in the original techno blueprint but delivered in a modern, original form. Working with analogue and digital keyboards atop a modern production backdrop, they like to add some old school trickery to keep things rough and raw! As well as producing music and running his imprint 7th Sign Recordings, Graham Wilson is also an established DJ, who’s held residencies at The Sub Club and played at such festivals as T In The Park, alongside the likes DJ Bone, Stefan Robbers, Chris Duckenfield, and Ivan Smagghe. After honing his production skills on many early tracks he joined forces with Ross McMillan in early 2005 to form Solab; the pair merging studios. Since then they’ve concentrated on both studio output and live performance, releasing the single ‘Shift’ on 7th Sign and ‘Detune/Cities’ on Paul Mac's Sula Muse imprint, earlier this year. They’ve also worked on remixes for the Mowar andFreund der Familie labels, are soon to finish a second EP for 7th Sign and also contribute to an album for the label. This aside, they’ve also worked on collaborative projects, with the likes of Harri. Following their 2007 live debut in Leeds, Graham and Ross are have played a number of gigs including a set at Sunday Circus earlier this year.
