• This November Soundcrash is taking you to the extremes of what we all like to call 'hip-hop', with some of the finest and most diverse artists of the genre taking to the stage in the most un-Shoreditch venue in Shoreditch, the prestigious Cargo. After winning the well renowned Lyric Pad Beatbox Battle twice in 2004, Beardyman went on to win the title of London champion and UK runner up in the 2005 Championships and the following year became UK Beatbox Champion 2006. He successfully defended his title in June 2007 to become the first beatboxer in UK history to win the national championships twice in a row. His live shows, as well as proving him as a world-class solo human-beatbox, he uses cutting-edge sound-mangling technology to create dance-inducing layered rhythms, breath-taking soundscapes, fully produced songs and tunes, all improvised and created entirely from his voice. In Beardyman's shows, no pre-recorded material is used, and everything is created live and in real time in front of the audience, who he takes on a mind-bending journey from dumbstruck to dancing and back again. The enigmatic Infinite Livez truly is at the extreme, taking existentialist hip-hop to a whole new level of, er, existence! Having released a solo album on Big Dada in 2004, and 2 subsequent collaborative releases with Swiss minimal-electro-jazz group Stade (believe me, you need to check these albums out!), as well as numerous side-projects and experiments (including Kiss Akabusi with DJ Dysu and Bolivia Neutron Bomb) Inf has been a Soundcrash mainstay, hosting some of our best shows to date, but tonight he's here in his own, well deserved right. Also coming from the beatbox angle, and also using technology to create full songs live before your eyes, but with a more folk/reaggae, guitar based feel is NY's own Joe Driscoll. With the release of the album ORIGIN MYTHS having gained critical acclaim, Radio One airplay, sell out release shows in NY and London, and receiving an INDY AWARD for BEST SOLO ACT, the appeal of this one man magician/musician is undeniable, and we are proud to have him back on the Soundcrash stage! Mr Thing needs no introduction. Former Scratch Pervert, solo and team DMC winner, sound-tracker to more of your life than you'd believe! And we're proud to have him along to night to demonstrate the classic art of scratch, a vital ingredient in our hip-hop recipe! Pest have been building up a dedicated following since their conception in the late 90's (as Spynaworkshop), and signing to Ninja Tune in 2003. Their blistering live sound is guaranteed to get a motionless crowd jumping from the rafters, and an already-moving crowd losing all sense of reality!
