Boxed launched in March 2013 to provide a home for a generation of instrumental grime producers who were - at that point, at least - rarely played in clubs.
In two years, it's gone from an underattended debut night at Peckham Palais to the centrepoint for a community of some of the world's most exciting electronic music. Three of the night's residents, Mr. Mitch, Logos and Slackk, have released acclaimed debut albums in the last two years, while the fourth resident, Oil Gang, released the debut EP by Novelist - later nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2015 poll. Crucial producers like Murlo, Rabit, Finn, Inkke, Strict Face, Dark0 and Mssingno were championed early by Boxed's residents, and Boxed now has its own show on Rinse FM and has run nights at Fabric, Birthdays, Plastic People, Manchester's Soup Kitchen and more.
For Boxed's second birthday, they expand operations to Hackney Wick's Autumn St Studios on March 20th for their biggest night to date. Sets come from all four residents, plus Local Action's Finn, Novelist's DJ Grandmixxer (picked as one of the world's most underrated DJs by FACT and CNN), pirate radio legend Spooky and very special guests.
