About the Joubert Singers and "Stand On The Word":
"Originally recorded live in the First Baptist Church in Crown Heights, NYC, in 1982 under Celestial Choir and pressed only for the congregation, it was then enlighted by Walter Gibbons (owner of Jus Born studios and a new born Christian at the time of the recording), who acquired a copy and played it out at the 7th Av. Rock and Soul shop, where he worked. “Stand On The Word” was Walter’s biggest record at the time, says Colin Gate, who visited the church in order to track down the origins of the song." "Stand On The Word" remains one of the most recognizable classics from the Paradise Garage, a big favorite of Larry Levan's and at David Mancuso's Love Saves The Day parties, AKA "The Loft." It was originally recorded in a small church in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and privately pressed on an LP with a few other hits from the church band. Walter Gibbons found the song, shared it with Levan, and the rest is history.
