S.A.M. aka Samuel André Madsen
(Underground Quality, Delaphine, Lazare Hoche Records, Mandar)
Born in '86 and raised by music lovers. Played the drums and bass in church and several gospel choirs untill he moved to Copenhagen to study theology in 2005. He sold his drums and bought his 1210's and a mixer in 2006 and homed a residency in the popular Copenhagen bar 'Ritz' (R.I.P.) around 2007. A year later he started producing his first tracks and he hasn't stopped since. His friends from local Tartelet Records saw potential and released Samuels first EP in 2011. Since then he has been releasing tracks on prominent underground labels such as Jus-Ed's Underground Quality and Richard Zepezauer’s Nsyde Music.
Now is one of the important years for S.A.M. Having upcoming releases on his label, Delaphine and also one of the most exciting projects that is his collaboration with Lazare Hoche and Malin Genie, that all together form MANDAR.
(Lazare Hoche Records, Mandar)
Producer/DJ/Label Owner Charlie Naffah aka Lazare Hoche hasn’t followed a traditional path. Instead of sending demos to labels, waiting patiently for their feedback, and pursuing sought-after slots at trendy nightclubs, Hoche opted to do it all himself. He moved from his hometown outside Paris to the heart of the city, built his own in-home studio, started producing tracks, then launched his own eponymous record label to release them as 12″s.The Lazare Hoche Records catalog to date, features vibe-drenched, no-nonsense house tools from Hoche and his associates including Mandar.
Hoche focused on building a solid catalog of releases, hitting a sweet spot with US house heads all the way to well known Romanian producers. He caught the attention of French icon DJ Gregory aka Point G, who was taken with Lazare’s unique take on traditional sounds and took the 24-year-old producer under his wing.
Lazare is an enthusiastic traditionalist, besotted with house’s forthright rewards: an airtight beat, a grooving bassline, hypnotic instrumental embellishments, and a dose of soul.
TOMMY VICARI JNR
(320Kb Audio, Armadillo, Discours, Comfortable, Vanity)
We’ve all heard of a “DJ’s DJ” before, but Tommy stands as someone more than that. A DJ’s “producer” too, Tommy’s music seems to get snatched up and played by a spectrum of international DJs, most famously by Ricardo Villalobos and Francesco Del Garda. A lover of all types of formats, from mp3 to vinyl, Tommy delivers one impressive EP after the other, from House and Disco edits to minimal and Detroit techno... tracks irresistible on the dance floor.
Tommy also homes a handful of different labels, such as his own Comfortable Records and its sub label, Vanity, both of which he founded with fellow music partner Gunnar Viggosson (the pair make up “techno duo”, 76 79). Let’s not forget his many labels on Bandcamp and his contributions to well-respected 320KB Music.
Hailing from Sheffield, Tommy, Thomas, Tomsky, Tommaso, is beloved by music fans and DJs all around Europe. He makes his rounds too, DJing at intimate underground parties, such as Sleepers at Club Der Visionaere in Berlin.
