Founded and owned by Anja Schneider and Ralf Kollmann, the label boasts a sound that is simultaneously familiar and innovative. Rooted in the classic structures of house and techno, mobilee has harnessed the triple threat approach: its records reference vintage dancefloor minimalism, engage with like-minded contemporaries, and suggest surprising new directions for familiar forms. --> Rodriguez Jr. Olivier Mateu’s wide-ranging inspirations and interests find their ultimate outlet as Rodriguez Jr., positioning him as mobilee’s new master of eclecticism. Rodriguez Jr.’s musical psyche strides ahead guided only by his kaleidoscopic vision; moving through shimmering, contemplative electronica, to deep and urgent techno, left field melodic accents and quirky pop refrains, Rodriguez Jr. is the by-product of an untamed brand of creativity and a thirst for the new and unexpected. Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Stockhausen, LFO, Carl Craig, Eric Satie, Kraftwerk, and Michael Polnareff, Rodriguez Jr.’s spirit of adventure translates as soaring creativity, and music that cannot be pigeonholed. Acclaimed Rodriguez Jr. releases for imprints such as Mothership, Boxer Records and Giant Wheels, prefaced the quirky melodies of his bass-driven house hit Princess Guacamole for mobilee records, and the tropical techno of Kids of Hula for it’s sister label Leena Music. Drawing both pleasure and inspiration from live performance, Rodriguez Jr. relishes the opportunity to realize his project on the stage, and has done extensively throughout Europe and America during some of his most acclaimed shows at Tomorrowland in Belgium, ADE in Amsterdam, Sonar Off in Barcelona, Showcase in Paris, Watergate in Berlin, Hardpop in Juarez and Kristal in Bucharest. Two heavy milestones were passed when his first-ever solo album titled „Bittersweet“ was released on Mobilee Records in 2012 followed by the 7th mobilee back to back compilation one year later. --> Ray Okpara An artist whose roots lie half in Nigeria represents today for what we understand as House. Percussions, drifty hypnotic beats, a touch of soul and marvellously deep. House is a feeling and Ray Okpara has his finger firmly on the pulse... The first thing that strikes you about Ray Okpara is that he's an overwhelmingly nice guy with what seems like time for everybody but behind the big smile and wiley dreads is one of house music's most serious producer/djs. Okpara has been instrumental in Germany's flourishing house scene for well over a decade. As with most Djs, the production itch had to be scratched but, unlike most, Okpara's initial efforts betrayed an innate talent for the craft. Lomidhigh Ltd, Drumpoet Community and Arearemote are a enviable bunch to count as early adopters for any budding producer and this start made just strengthened Ray's resolve. Rejoining his tight knit group of friends, now running the Oslo, Deep Vibes, Cecille and 8-Bit imprints, after a four year relocation to Berlin in 2005, Ray's reputation was cemented and the rest is history. Now based back in Berlin with a heavy touring schedule as a DJ and a dedicated live artist, Okpara continues to go from strength to strength. His Ama label rolls out consistently quality output in an unhurried manner while his own productions continue to hit home for crowds, critics and record buyers alike. As well as ongoing relationships forged in his Mannheim days, affiliations with Oslo and Mobilee are being nurtured and with many more projects still to be unveiled 2012 and beyond is looking pretty rosy for the cheery guy. --> Re.You It’s been a meteoric rise for Re.You, his success in the electronic music scene a distant cry from shattered hoop dreams. Now firmly Berlin-based, his prolific release schedule continues unabated, the live show with Rampa going from strength to strength as well as DJ sets at clubs across the world. As a teenager in Ulm, a sleepy town in southern Germany, Marius first began to appreciate the dark arts of beats through a love of DJ Premier’s dark and jazzy cuts. Having fallen in with the Keinemusik crew around ’09 he soon developed a solid live partnership with Rampa. He describes their first night at Horst as one of the key moments in his career, and having previously only performed live, decided to devote himself to Re.You and start DJing too. His release schedule has been rapidly gathering pace, his first single ‘Work’ with Rampa a roaring success. Joining the Souvenir family fold saw him gain serious recognition with his 2011 single ‘Ghost’ which was featured on Sven Väth’s infamous Sound Of the Season compilation of that year. After destroying Room One Fabric with a Souvenir take over, things hotted up and Marius scored a massive hit with his edit of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games’ which racked up about 50,000 listens in a week. 2012 has been extremely busy, with a hit on Mobilee ‘Junction’, ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’ on Cocoon and a follow up on Souvenir ‘Falling’ with haunting vocals supplied by fellow compatriot Daniel Wilde. His brother’s new label Avotre has also recently played home to ‘Fever’ and with plenty more strings left to his bow, he has more singles scheduled this year. It may be to basketball’s loss, but music fans across the world can rejoice at the inopportune accident that created this rising star. And better still, there’s plenty more to come! --> Jack Francis Jack Francis has done a fine job of establishing himself as a respected selector in the UK. It all started auspiciously when being crowned DJ of the Year by Last Night a DJ Saved my Life (a competition in association with Vestax) and since then has supported crossover star Example as well as becoming official tour DJ for Casio G-Shock. It’s no wonder he has made such strides given the fact he got his first decks aged just ten, and was lucky enough to be exposed to the best vinyl house had to offer - Marshall Jefferson, DJ Pierre, Adonis, Mr Fingers – thanks to his dad’s carefully curated collection. Add in to that his admiration for the stage presence of The Prodigy and the production prowess of people like Skream and Claude von Stroke and you have the finished article. Most recently has Jack performed for Pioneer at the BPM exhibition, whilst each month sees him play at Soho House Members Club. The greatest testament to his ability to work the floor and adapt his sound to any situation is the fact he is weekly resident at esteemed UK club EGG London. His well-honed style sees acid, house and techno all melted into one coherent sonic tapestry. “Performing live I constantly insert samples and manipulate the music as if it was a live remix” says the man himself, who has done so at places like Ministry of Sound, Notting Hill Carnival and festivals like Lovebox and Wireless. With production ever more Jack’s focus and thoughts of releasing in summer 2014, the future is as bright as has been the past for this dexterous DJ --> Peter Glasspool Pete's influences range from a vast array of underground artists, spending many years listening to the likes of Craig Richards and Ricardo Villalobos in our beloved fabric. His ability to create an atmosphere whether it be early warm up duties or late night after-hours he has caught the eye of many. A regular at WetYourSelf at fabric and appearances at well respected London nights Toi Toi and Undersound certainly shows he has a great ear for music. Production wise expect deep filled low end driven groovy house and techno with plenty of funk, soul and swing, be sure to check this rising talent out he’s one to watch.
