LILLICA LIBERTINE (Live)
THE FAFF (Live)
FIRAS (Filthy Few)
NO ONE DIED
LILLICA LIBERTINE AKA 19 year old Nottingham native Laurence Matthew Blake is the most exciting young producer in England right now. Barely out of school and looking like Lil Wayne if he was in The Blood Brothers, Lillica has been heating up underground clubs up and down the country with the blogosphere crowning him the dazzling new prince of UK electro.
‘Limited Edition’ and ‘Ultra 10’ released on 500 clear vinyl by tapedeck’s new label Meal Deal are two examples of what is getting everyone so excited.
Spending his youth kicking around and misbehaving with a group of Shottingham club kids that included Late Of The Pier, LILLICA is THE production voice to have been born out of Ricky Haley’s infamous Liars Club scene.
THE FAFF are a hugely energetic 4 piece electro, indie, punk band from Yorkshire. Heavily influenced by the likes of Test Icicles, Justice and Foals, THE FAFF combine every inch of their musical knowledge to produce the highly infectious sounds spat out by the four. Their live shows are powerful, electric and fueled with energy.
The band are to release their debut single in August on Murderous Traffic Records followed up by their biggest UK tour to date.
MAGAZINE Presents put on club nights around London bringing you the best acts in live music and the sickest DJs. We have monthiles at the world famous Proud Galleries, the legendary Camden Barfly and a new night at Scala kicking off on June 14. We've also previously put nights on at Cargo, 93 Feet East, ULU, Nambucca, & The Old Blue Last.
Our ethos is simple - it's all about good tunes, good people and good times, leave your pretensions at the door and get involved!
MAGAZINE Presents @ Barfly is on the second Friday of every month and you'll hear an eclectic mix of indie, electro, beats and good old fashioned rock'n'roll from the bands as well as the DJs.
On the fourth Friday of every month we host the hugely successful MAGAZINE Presents YEAR ZERO. It's an insane night with the best in new music and most incredible bands on the planet. We've had sold out nights with Glasvegas, The Enemy, The Kooks, Jack Penate, Good Shoes, Ali Love, Look See Proof, Pull Tiger Tail, Ash, Trash Fashion, Charlotte Hatherley, The More Assured & Kid Harpoon to name but a few.
With MAGAZINE Presents Year Zero now coming into its second year and going from strength to strength, 2008 is already promising much more of the same.
We've now moved back to our spiritual home, the infamous Proud Galleries, after a brief spell at Barfly during the renovations. With the redevelopment complete and having escaped the flames that devoured the Hawley Arms, Proud Galleries is living just next door to the old spot but now housed in a resplendent three room converted horse hospital with a bigger and better stage room, outdoor smoking area and that famous gin terrace and a mint new soundsystem.
