Heatsick is the project of musician and visual artist Steven Warwick. Using a solitary Casio keyboard and a myriad of effects, Warwick's music is created in real time based upon loops that are moulded, stretched and reduced to interlink, nestling and merging with one another in a similar way to his visual artwork, where objects and media combine and coalesce in an environment inviting the viewer's participation. Combining a palette of sources from early Chicago house mixtapes (in sound, texture AND mixing technique) through to musique concrète and psychedelia, Heatsick proposes a live dance music that expands and unlocks the senses: his use of limited resources to produce an immersive, maximalist sound environment. Having graced the likes of Berghain/Panorama Bar, Unsound, Malmö Konsthalle, Frankfurt Städelschule and Flow Festival, Helsinki.
This will be his first ever Manchester performance.

Mira Calix is an award winning composer, artist and performer based in the United Kingdom. She is signed to Warp Records, on which she has released five albums.
Although her earlier music is almost exclusively electronic in nature, in more recent years, she has incorporated classical orchestration into her work for installation pieces, film soundtracks, theatre and opera. Mira has been commissioned to write new works for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic-Ensemble 10/10, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Aldeburgh Festival, Bang On A Can, London Sinfonietta, Opera North and The Manchester International Festival amongst others.
Mira regularly performs live, touring internationally. The scope of her work has taken her to a diverse range of festivals and venues, from Sonar, Transmediale and Latitude, to the Royal Festival Hall, Mariinsky and Lincoln Center.
TCR is a dance project of composer and musician Tom Rose, whose work unravels in the spaces between instrumental and electronic performance practices, and often where they bleed into each other. He co-directs experimental record label Slip Discs: releasing new acoustic and electronic music. TCR is kickstarting with a run of mixtapes and remixes studying the snaz, villes, bodies, lasers and anecdotes in different moments of dance music under a gritty microscope or through a pair of splintered and tinted binoculars.
Laurence Tompkins is a composer and musician based in the U.K. His practice seeks to forge new possibilities in the no man's land between established contemporary composition and electronic music disciplines. His music has been performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Snape Maltings, The Sage, Gateshead, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3. He has participated in courses with the National Youth Orchestra, the Royal Academy of Music, Opera North, and Aldeburgh Music. Having received a scholarship on entry in 2009, he recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with First Class Honours, studying with Larry Goves.
As a co-founder and co-director of the experimental record label Slip Discs, Laurie has curated releases and live performances from Leo Abrahams, Oliver Coates, Mark Fell, Larry Goves, Aisha Orazbayeva, Mica Levi, Bass Clef and many others in the past year alone. Wherever performances occur, the curation emphasises a commitment to a live experience that both revels in and questions the implications of the performance space.
Future projects include collaborative work with poet Sam Quill on the radio play SHUCK!; new music for 'cellist Oliver Coates with electronics; collaborative work with visual artists Dori Deng and Meta Drcar as part of the LSO Soundhub scheme.
