• Prolific remixer and crate digger Kon (BBE Records / Soul Clap / Basic Fingers ) is coming to Toronto's BLK BOX on Saturday June 1st, with support from Toronto's A Digital Needle and Cyclist, whose Beam Me Up Disco party brought down the house with a legendary set from Al Kent in April. Their shindigs, at both the BLK BOX and the Piston, have been named Toronto's best bet parties by the Grid, BlogTO and She Does the City and there is more than a sneakin' suspicion that this will be one of their greatest grooves to date... Boston native Kon takes a modest approach to dee-jaying (his name, after all, is an acronym for King Of Nothing), and he is the sort who places a love for music above any personal notoriety, though many do tend to disagree with this modesty; Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio 1) dubbed him the Edit and Rework King, while the likes of Kanye West and Dr. Dre have been known to turn to the beat junkie for help getting a sample sorted. His recent releases on Basic Fingers, Hands of Time & Future Classic have all charted number one on Juno, so it's a welcome relief that this aural ace has his feet planted firmly on the ground - well, when they aren't a tappin' away! Another disco jam not to miss!
