It's with real pleasure that we introduce Andrés (also known as DJ Dez), associate of the late great J Dilla, DJ from 90's outfit Slum Village, and nowadays producer of some of contemporary house's most essential tracks. His music crosses over from house to disco to hip hop, released on labels such as Moody's Mahogani and his own imprint La Vida.
Andrés cut his DJing teeth in California before moving back to Detroit and starting to work at the legendary Buy-Rite Records alongside Kenny Dixon Jr. After spending some time at Amp Fiddler’s home studio, Dez met J Dilla, who recruited him to DJ for his hip hop crew, Slum Village. Parallel to all of this, Andrés began to explore his hometown’s house legacy from the late ’90s onwards which lead to a highly prolific relationship with Mahogani Music and put him on the map as one of the most versatile figures on the Detroit dance music circuit. Armed with vintage hip hop, hard hitting deep house and rare gems from the world of boogie, Latin and soul.
Last year Andrés topped Resident Advisor, FACT and Little White Earbuds’ 2012 lists with his sumptuous Disco-inspired hit New For U and It was impossible to escape those strings in 2012. Support on the night comes from two of the best djs Ireland has to offer, Tu-Ki and Handsome Paddy.
