On Saturday, June 29th, Erratic takes over NY’s longest standing underground club located in Manhattan, Sullivan Room, for another night of highly anticipated techno – this time with two of America’s most recognized and accomplished techno artists, Truncate (aka Audio Injection) and Kyle Geiger.
Truncate, Audio Injection’s new project (both a record label and producing alias), came to life 2 years ago and has since taken the techno world by storm. Focused on stripped-down, raw, jackin’ elements, the essence of his new sound is derived from and influenced by old school Detroit techno –it embodies a minimal, tool-like, deep and driving approach that is very much dancefloor oriented. His studio work under this new moniker has been kept mostly to his own label, also named Truncate and vinyl-only, but he has blessed key imprints like Droid, Modularz, Enemy, and Historia Y Violencia with this unique sound. He has also done a number of remixes for Sleaze, Gynoid, and Cubera (Kyle Geiger’s own imprint) helping further spread his new project. Audio Injection has only played in NY once before as Truncate (for the infamous Interface party last December of 2012), and everyone present was just simply blown away by the relentless set. On this night, he is flying from Los Angeles to play an extended set exclusively for Erratic as this will be his only scheduled appearance in the East Coast.
Kyle Geiger, originally from Indiana but now based out of Berlin, has become an American techno icon in the last few years. Owner of his own label, Cubera, he has released across pivotal techno powerhouses like Drumcode, Soma, Perc Trax, Sleaze, and Droid. Kyle’s latest studio work is a collaboration EP with Hans Bouffmyhre, Sleaze’s label boss, commemorating the label’s 5-year anniversary. Sound-wise, his style is characterized by a blend of the hard and percussive old school techno with the moodier, groovier most recent version. His performances are always energetic and powerful, and his style hands-on and uplifting, creating throughout the course of his DJ sets, “a breed of soundscapes that pushes things forward.” This will be the last gig of his US tour before heading back to Europe. On this night, Kyle will perform a special set for Erratic, giving proper close to a series of shows all across the country, making NY’s gig the epilogue of his latest techno journey throughout the US.
Opening up the night in style will be the Erratic residents, Jason T. & LoKKoTRONN, better known as, Dos Lokos, doing what they do best: getting people hyped, wowed and electrified for what it will surely be a solid night of banging techno.
