Much-heralded German deep house label Exploited are present and correct for their first official London party. With their creative and artistic integrity now firmly entrenched in the rhetoric of electronic music, and with releases from Adana Twins, Siriusmo, Claptone and Joyce Muniz under their belt, Exploited are now taking their showcase on the road. They will find themselves in East London at an unannounced warehouse location on the 6th April, much to the joy of London’s clued-up clubbing community.
Topping the bill are resident spitting images ADANA TWINS. Their storming “Everyday” EP has proved the catalyst for a hectic worldwide touring schedule, which has included the accolade of being hosted for Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show. Accompanying the boys is CLAPTONE, whose bomb “Cream” tore up dancefloors throughout 2012, and announced him as a producer of significant skill considering his use of that Charmel’s piano riff. Recent single “Wrong” suggests a producer in the prime of his life. DOCTOR DRU will join the fun, still most likely reeling from the success of his Italo-house homage “The Voice of Dru”. This cinematic, colourful take on house is typical of his sound, which takes in various regional characteristics of house from across Europe. As a booking agent, promoter, DJ and producer, SHIR KHAN is a man with seemingly little time on his hands, yet still helms Exploited in fine fashion, as well as turning his ear more and more towards the nostalgic art of disco edits. Expect seminal Exploited cuts both old and new from the label bossman. URULU joins the unstoppable cohort of talented LA beatmakers coming onto the scene. Unlike his west-coast cousins at Brainsfeeder et al, Urulu is seeking a similarly retro tone to his labelmates, which is no better illustrated than in the post-coital splendour of “1991”. COCOLORES are a young Munich duo that are just starting to make their way, possessing a soothing, mellow sound that recalls both classic Balearic and the smooth, underwater aesthetic of Quest or Will Saul. Rounding things off is TIMO GARCIA, a producer of considerable longevity and professionalism, having received support from M.A.N.D.Y and Laurent Garnier for his debut album, Wonderlust Bug. Head to RA to buy a ticket, and get your fill of Germany’s finest.
