Typically on your sixth birthday, you're proud of reading your first words, blowing out six candles on a huge cake, and unwrapping presents bigger than yourself. At our sixth birthday, we're just proud to have lasted this long and to have you around to celebrate this anniversary with us.
Let's make it one to remember!
An anniversary party calls for a great line up and so that's what you're gonna get. Main man of the evening is Ken Christensen (Alphabet Music, Primal, apt, Washington DC), House guru and half of the notorious East Coast Boogiemen duo. We could go on about Ken's mixing skills or list the numerous international labels on which he has produced in the last ten years, but what better way to introduce him than using his own words:
"When I am DJ'ing, I am playing music for you. I say 'you' because, although the dance floor is an area packed with people, everyone on it represents one very important entity to me. After all, for most of us, a perfect night is when we all feel like we are dancing and being free with each other as one, and when we are taken to that state of mind together."
Raoul (Aroma, A Second Smell) is surely someone we didn't want to do without on our sixth birthday. He's currently working on a new Swirl People single with Ingrid Hakanson and is already making preparations to beat us in throwing the best birthday party ever with Aroma's tenth anniversary coming up later this year.
Adam B & Tom Golden (Homegrown Music, Manchester) set up homegrown-music.com in 2002 and ever since got more and more involved into House music, playing all over Europe, and gaining wide acclaim for their productions. Two years ago, at a summer edition they already proved to be the revelation of the evening.
Six years, six DJ's we thought, and a candle to blow out for every one of them. Two out of the six candles have of course been reserved for our residents Kelvin K (Nordic Trax, Brighton), who just released his "Get On UP" EP on Sound Between Movement, and Wes.
