Mr. K (Likwid Productions)
Aaron Ross (Fanatix Records)
Sandy Sitlani (Ohm Records)
Electric Motel returns to Club Seven and Level on February 1st, featuring deep house maestro from Fanatix Records (UK), Aaron Ross, and breaks DJ Sandy (Ohm Records, Dubai). The event, hosted by Ohm Records (Dubai) and Torque, bring two of the regions top event organisers as they continue the Electric Motel series in Bahrain.
Aaron Ross, headlining on the main floor in Club Seven, has come a long way since his 1993 slots on pirate radio station Scandal FM. His first big step was working at Virgin Record’s fulltime as A&R manager, while running a London pirate radio station Fresh FM. After 1997 things really started to kick off and a residency at the staple London club night Missdemeanours was bestowed upon Aaron - a spot that has seen him spinning alongside the likes of David Morales and Danny Rampling, to name just a few. 8 years on and he is still playing his sublime blend of uplifting house at every Missdemeanours event.
In 2000 Phil Asher officially made Aaron a member of his long running, well-respected DJ/production crew, Restless Soul, which keeps him busy in the studio and is a big source of inspiration for Aaron. In 2003 Osiris Music was launched with Aaron’s single; ‘Rain People’ featuring Marcus Begg. The label has since gone from strength to strength with the help of more of Aaron’s efforts under his Fanatix guise, which he uses when producing alongside fellow DJ Neil Pierce.
Aaron’s sublime soulful sound has made him a regular at significant nights and events including Shindig, Defected in the House parties, Southport Weekender, Masters at Work parties in Miami and of course his residencies at Soul Heaven. The ever-growing popularity of Aaron’s weekly radio show on BBC 1Xtra means it has gone full steam ahead into its fourth year – no mean feat in the fickle world of dance music! Aaron’s signature sound is a hybrid of the old and the new, he seamlessly blends the carefully picked classics that are too good to be forgotten with the freshest titles and artists the scene has to offer. This approach has seen his DJ gigs take on a life of their own.
Featuring on the decks in Level will be Dubai-based Sandy. Born in Bombay, Sandy was exposed to dance music at an early age. By the time he started clubbing, his brother was already a renowned DJ and his love for music, clubbing and his access to records, all contributed to him taking up DJ’ing as a full time job. Starting his career with college parties and friends birthdays, Sandy got his first residency in 2002 at The Elbow Room, which later that year was listed as one of the best clubs in the country. Hungry to continue with his DJ’ing career, Sandy moved to Dubai in 2005.
A Finalist at the Heineken Thirst Competition in 2005 and 2006, Sandy’s versatility as a DJ led to him being offered a residency at Henry J. Bean’s in Dubai, where he played 4 nights a week, covering everything from Deep/Tech to Minimal & Techno. Sandy started working at OHM Records, but continued on with his DJ’ing, and towards the end of 2006, was offered a bi-weekly residency at Enigma, the biggest club in Abu Dhabi, where he has played alongside the likes of Dave Seaman, James Lavelle, Alex Miles & Matty Wells (Smartie Partie). Now a relative veteran of the Dubai Dj circuit, Sandy has held residencies and guest spots at a large number of Dubai nightclubs.
