The Last Techno Party Ever feat. Claude Young

  • After 8 long blissful years, Stable and Pretty Simple proudly welcomes back to Melbourne, one of the most skilful and naturally gifted techno djs ever produced, hailing from the Motor City, Detroit, the formidable Mr Claude Young. Electronic composer, web and video graphic designer, sci-fi junkie, computer expert & world class DJ, these are but a few of the hats worn by the anomaly that is Claude Young. This Detroit native who now resides in both Glasgow (Scotland) and Tokyo (Japan) was born the son of legendary WJLB (Detroit) radio personality, station founding member and production wizard Claude Young Snr. His editing & production skills in studio (taught to him by his father & years of experimentation alone) saw him work on a string of records for both independent and major record labels including KMS, Warner Bros, MoWax, RCA, Sony Music Entertainment Japan and a host of others. Musto & Bones, Technasia, Gary Numan, Carl Craig, Joey Beltram, Inner City and 4Hero are but a few of the artist either remixed or edited by Young. One of Detroit's leading DJs and producers as the '90s closed, Claude Young filtered the more lush elements of Motor City melodist with the harder, minimalist stream of Robert Hood and Jeff Mills to create productions which lacked for neither emotion nor hard-hitting trance. Claude was cofounder of three of Detroit electronic music's most respected record imprints: Frictional Rec, Dow (with Anthony "Shake" Shakir) and 7Th City Rec. (with Dan "DBX" Bell) recording under the moniker of Brother from another planet. Young’s own increasingly authoritative production skills saw him putting his own stamp on the style with uniquely dark melodic elements. Known for his outstanding and unique mixing style that includes scratches, juggles and cuts, Claude Young has impressed the most avid of techno and turntable enthusiasts around the world. Some say he is a hip hop dj trapped in techno continuum. Although this is somewhat accurate, not entirely true! Claude persists on challenging himself with new mixing techniques and innovative ways to present his sound and his music. In December 2004, Young semi-retired from his DJ activity to start cynet:media with his current mentor & close friend / advisor HG Wells (in Glasgow) and his wife Yukiko Young (in Tokyo) who runs cynet:media Japan. The company will focus on presenting electronic music in the most modern forms possible and without musical constraints. "I'm a bit older now and I want to spend this part of my life working on projects close to my heart." Claude Young has got to be one of the more abstract minds to come out of Detroit. His latest offering an album entitled “One Nine Eight Four” demonstrates Mr. Young's mastery of many electronic styles, be it: abstract, broken beat hip hop, straight ahead Detroit techno, sci-fi sound scapes… all collide to create a long lost soundtrack to a classic science fiction film not yet made...that's the beauty of Claude Young. Come and help us celebrate the return of the mighty techno juggernaut that is Claude Young @Ffour Nightclub on the January 12th. This is the last techno party ever! Doors open 9pm till late Early bird tickets @$20 limited to 100 Tickets available through DMC records, Central Station and Ffour Nightclub.
