On Saturday 17 April Resident Advisor is taking it from the web to the street as we throw our first ever party in Melbourne! The night is a celebration of RA's inclusion within the Melbourne dance music community and a chance to say thank-you to all our members.
We have lined up some of our favourite DJs to play for you, including two RA columnists, and some new talent and fresh faces within Melbourne. Our expert on the all things breakbeat, Keltec, will be playing. He will be joined by his partner in crime, production and brilliant DJ sets, Dan Mangan. Progressive breaks mischief and melodies here we come!
Ryan Papa is a Canberra-based DJ and producer. Ryan also runs his own label Stigma Recordings which was launched late last year with the huge RA/Stigma world tour. Ryan is currently on tour in Japan and the USA, then he'll be heading for Melbourne to play exclusively at the RA party. Expect plenty of fresh tunes from Ryan!
New faces to the scene are Rankine and The Sonic Pimps. Rankine is a recently returned expat who fell into the London club scene and returned with a swag of vinyl and a passion for DJing tech house sounds. The Sonic Pimps bring live action to DJing, with Andrew Dannaoui playing tribal and progressive house while being accompanied by a live drummer and keyboardist.
There will also be a few extra surprises at the party with some gifts from our friends Festival Mushroom Records to giveaway. The atmosphere will also be further heightened with VJing by Baumann.
