We’ve been extremely exhausted since the apparition of 600 odd ReviveHERs raving in EFES snooker club at our last party. Easily our busiest and most successful party to date. Video footage and full photo gallery coming at our page (www.facebook.com/ReviveHER) soon, so please sign up. Sorry for the delay.
ReviveHERs, Beats In Spacers, sundazers, Mathmaticians, Highlifers…we salute you in what turned out to be an unforgettable cataclysmic event….and there’s more to come of that! But let’s not forget our humble beginnings! The “Tropical Dalston Basement Bashes” - we have a couple of ginormous tropical scenes to come next year and our most loyal landlord DALSTON SUPERSTORE.
So come get merry for our Xmas knees up for a meager fiver. We are back at our usual Dalston hangout and are pleased to announce that they have given us a residency next year starting from the end of January. We will be Reviving the coolest licensed venue in Dalston on the last Friday of the month, every other month from Friday January 28th. We are working hard to bring you implausible line ups for the whole year down at DSS – so stick with us and all late licenses are pending!!!
EDDIE C (Endless Flight / Jiscomusic / 7 Inches Of Love / Canada)
We’ve rustled up a very special guest last minute for our Xmas party. A rare opportunity to book Eddie C, a firm favourite of ours and all those in the know on the mid tempo house, edits and alt dance scene, he can be described as one of the field’s heaviest hitters.. Hibernating in a log cabin studio deep in the Rocky Mountains and hailing from Canada, we’re very luck to be catching him on his travels through Europe. Coming out of virtually nowhere in 2009, Eddie has cranked out from this alpine studio, 16 singles and EPs and 12 remixes in those 3 years, all culminating in an album “Parts Unknown” on the ultra cool Endless Flight label, a subsidiary of Japanese based Mule Music.
With his deep, lush and beautiful grooves, Eddie C is constantly name checked by every major playa this end of the underground. As with most North Americans, his popularity and accessability, somewhat bypasses Europe, which is why he has graced the likes of Beats In Space and shares label credits with the likes of KZA, Optimo, Mark Seven, The Backwoods, CosMes and Dr Dunks on Endless Flight. Not forgetting his edits on the Jiscomusic label along side The Revenge and Mark E, his work with 7 Inches of Love and the multitude of other labels in between: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Eddie+C
We can honestly say that we can’t wait to see Eddie C
KATHY DIAMOND Live PA (Permanent Vacation / Gomma)
Upstairs we are very excited to announce our first live vocalist for ReviveHER and even Dalston Superstore in the shape of ReviveHER of vintage disco and modern funk and soul – KATHY DIAMOND. Just what the gayers, divas, chillers and spillers orderd in the bar area. A much anticipated spectator affair and something different. Having released and distributed her first song herself to critical acclaim, produced Chris Duckenfield’s SWAG project, Sheffield born Kathy met up and formed a magical relationship with fellow Sheffield dweller Maurice Fulton. Their work led to a 12” on the Idjuts Cottage label and a widely revered album on Permanent Vacation, all produced by the almighty Fulton and aptly released in 2007 at the height of the disco revival. Tracks that got smashed included “All Woman” and “I Need You Here Right Now”. The album catapulted Kathy on to the global scene, with rave reviews from XLR8R, Pitchfork, The Village Voice and New York Sun. Since then she has released and featured on singles for Moodmusic, Under The Shade, Rekids, Needwant and Endless Flight
Her new project that is turning heads this year is the The KDMS. A project with Maxi Skiba, the 22 year old Polish producer, who has released on Under The Shade and Bearfunk with a forthcoming album on Rekids, KDMS operate as a live 5 piece band. Their first release on Gomma Dance Tracks “Never Stop Believing” featured remixes from label head Munk and legendary NYC disco DJ, resident at the Gallery and some time DJ at the Paradise Garage and Studio 54, Nick Siano! That followed with “High Wire” and the most talked about single “Tonight”, which just had the remix EP drop on November 25th. Featuring remixes from Mr Storm Queen himself Morgan Geist and Hot Chip, the track has been getting props from all kinds of DJs: Soul Clap, Tim Sweeney, Tensnake, Aeroplane, Axel Boman, Tom Trago, Pilooski, Mylo and of course Horse Meat Disco. If there’s one disco diva to bring the house down, its Kathy. Don’t miss this live performance!!!
MATTY J & BEN TERRY (The Pool Agency / TIRK)
Matty J assembled The Pool (of talent) after many years working for revered label Nuphonic, as did Ali Warm with his roster, and went on to work for TIRK records. He has managed to compile a group of artists who are resolute tastemakers, respected and recognized the world over within their field. Keeping true to his vision and not cashing in on the latest boom n bust act, his roster includes Greg Wilson, Todd Terje, Maurice Fulton, Rub N Tug, Beautful Swimmers and of course KATHY DIAMOND. Matty is also DJ Harvey’s agent. YES DJ HARVEY!!! And has been responsible for putting together all his tour dates since the godfather of debauchery, acid house and disco has been allowed to leave the US again.
Matty is also an excellent DJ and tastemaker himself (you’d have to be, representing that roster). He and his compadre Ben Terry, have been playing records together for over half a decade, playing the most prestigious festival stages in the UK such as the Big Chill, Bestival, The Garden Festival, Snowbombing and We Love at Space, Ibiza, as well as being requested to fill up warm up slots all around the world. They’ll be bringing down the walls upstairs, whilst Kathy will be tearing the roof off the sucker, somewhere in between their set.
NAMEDROP (DJ History / Electric Minds / Join The Dots)
Half of Namedrop and Benoit and Part of the illusive 102eh co-operative, when not digging for rarities, oddities and records of contrasting notions of genius, he can be found at DJ History HQ making cups of tea for Mr DJ History, Bill Brewster. Namedrop has in the past couple of years watched X-Factor with Tensnake, humped a sofa with Mungolian Jetset, sorted out Prins Thomas with a fancy dress outfit, beaten Balearic Mike at an arm wrestle and seen Derrick Carter’s special globe projection hat.
As well as being a social under-lord he has also managed to find a few hours to play at a load of parties including, London parties; Late Night Audio, Loose, Unwind as well as HotBoxx in Berlin and is a regular guest at Low life. He is also resident at Electric Minds, Join The Dots and DJhistory’s Secret Weapons parties and has played recent gigs at Space, Secret Garden Party, Electric Elephant Croatia, Latitude and Bestival
. With a penchant for minority, French and ethnic disco, gospel chanting and sludgy swamp infused house riddims, there is always a party about to be started.
BI – BOP (ReviveHER / Dogme East)
2011 has been a heavily paced year for the head ReviveHER and resident DJ. Taking in a Fashion Rocks tour of the UK, curating show music for clients such as Harpers Bazaar and Lyle & Scott, launching Dogme East with house music creator Farley Jackmaster Funk headlining, running all the ReviveHERs and taking on more gigs than any other year, the most memorable gig was a 4 hour set at Istanbul’s minimuzikhol. This time he intends to actually play an extended warm up set for the special guest. Expect to hear the best of 2011 and a Xmas cracker or two.
A riveting rampant rollercoaster rider for ReviveHER in 2011. We want to thank Tim Sweeney, Cos Mes, Lovefingers, Justin Vandervolgen, Lee Douglas, Tiago, James Priestley, John Heckle, Chida, Baris K, Dan Beaumont, Jonny Nash, James Holroyd, Den Haan, Luke Howard, Auntie Flo, Doug Shipton, Tomoki Tamura, Elliott Mess, Naïve Melody, Dubby, Lookleft, Andrew H&P, Dan Hill, Minkioni, Nicholas Feel, Antony Price, Elenora Cecchini, secretsundaze, all those that came to the parties and those we’ve forgot to mention, for Reviving us in 2011.
…and there still may be a very special secret NYE party that the normal wallet can actually afford to come! Stay tuned and on in to 2012!
