We are the far end of the graveyard. We are ghosts, drifting past you. We are a muffled sound of voices. We are lost at sea, and we are washed ashore..." Ghosting Season is Gavin Miller and Thomas Ragsdale. It was born in 2011 out of the foundations of worriedaboutsatan, the band we have toured and recorded as for over half a decade. Our work was still a network of dark, brooding - yet euphoric - electronica, but there began to appear towering, vibrant, and inescapable moments of dance music. The sound was expanding beyond the identity of worriedaboutsatan. The organic elements of the new project - guitars, voice, and found sound - highlighted the natural growth of the music, and we realised we could no longer contain it under the name, worriedaboutsatan. As its new form became more distinct, we called it Ghosting Season". The response to their recent high energy gig at The Scala, supporting Apparat, has been utterly incredible. We are looking forward to seeing them work their magic at Ginglik. http://www.ghostingseason.co.uk http://www.facebook.com/ghostingseason http://www.twitter.com/ghostingseason http://www.soundcloud.com/ghostingseason Kelpe As a young teenager, Kel McKeown (AKA Kelpe) decided that sampling and sequencing might provide him with a safer past time than bone splintering skateboarding mishaps. The initial efforts made on a Commodore Amiga with a sampler provided him with a discipline and focus that is of fundamental importance to the creative process that he currently employs in the execution of his distinctive beat creations. Kelpe's influences range from the bleeps & bass of classic Warp artists to the funk of Sly Stone, and the minimalism of Steve Reich + Harmonia to the percussive space-scapes of Tortoise + Do Make Say Think. The diversity of the music that inspires Kelpe finds reflection in his own sonic adventures, informing his ever evolving sound, combining as map and compass to guide his lunar-bound b-boy throw downs. Coming to the attention of DC Recordings in early 2003, his first release for label was the 12_ EP 'The People are Trying to Sleep', a wide eyed carnival of fractured beats and warped electronics. This was followed by the critically acclaimed album 'Sea Inside Body' (September 2004), an album described by The Wire as "One of the most engrossing listens in recent electronic music". In 2005 came bedroom discotheque 12_ 'Sunburnt Eyelids' and In 2008 came double LP 'Ex-Aquarium' (2008) and remix companion 'Extraquarium' (featuring Zombie Zombie, Fulgeance, Architeq etc). In October 2009 third full length 'Cambio Wechsel' arrived, which BBC Music described "as irresistible as Prefuse 73 or Flying Lotus's most commended collections". Most recently Kelpe released "Margins EP" on Black Acre, recieving support from Huw Stephens and James Holden. Next from the pipe will be the "Chocolate Money EP" on dutch imprint Fremdtunes (due 22nd November). In early 2008, to support the release of 'Ex-Aquarium' Kelpe teamed up with ubiquitous drummer Chris Walmsley (Voice of The Seven Woods, Broadcast, Psapp etc) for a new live setup incorporating the traditional drum kit and MPC style beat manipulations whilst not being afraid to embrace modern technology (i.e. a laptop computer!). Within a few months of this new duo's first gig they found themselves in sold out venues supporting the likes of Holy Fuck, To Rococo Rot and others. The explosive live act has travelled far and wide, from Lithuania to California, playing alongside diverse acts such as Aphex Twin, Jaki Liebezeit , Prefuse 73, and Daedelus. Chris Walmsley (AKA 'All Traps Set') also made a guest appearance on latest album 'Cambio Wechsel', providing the heavy rhythmic backdrop to the bass driven 'Closed Cup Headroom'. In Autumn 2010 Kelpe released 2 EPs "Margins EP" on Black Acre, securing a place in Bleep.com's top 10 EPs of 2010. And Chocolate Money, (on dutch label Fremdtunes) recieving a lot of support and airplay from BBC radio 1's Huw Stephens and BBC 6 Music's Tom Ravenscroft. Kelpe has also shone as an innovative remixer, re-working Red Snapper, Jean Jacques Perrey, Seeland (Lo), The Oscillation (DC), Eliot Lipp (Mush), Fulgeance (Musique Large) + Architeq (Tirk) among others. http://www.kelpe.co.uk Pathic Pathic (real name John Cranmer) is a British DJ, producer and founder of Pyramid Transmissions - 'One of the most on form electro labels' (DJ Magazine). As electro is a tag given to such a divergent range of music, it might be necessary to clarify what we're talking about here - Body rocking beats that owe more to the likes of Kraftwerk, Underground Resistance and Drexciya, than to '80s electropop crooners or painfully trendy East London hangouts. Soulful analogue machinefunk with a cybernetic eye to the future, as opposed to those jarring digital bleepisms with one foot stuck solidly in the past. At the helm of Pyramid Transmissions, Pathic and co-founder ADJ have proved themselves stalwarts of the underground electro scene. For the past decade, the label's modest, yet steady supply of releases has earned high praise from aficionados and critics alike and its ever-growing roster of talent includes producers from all over the world. In addition to his releases on Pyramid Transmissions, Pathic's productions have found their way on to other labels, including Cultivated Electronics, Minimalsoul Recordings and the much-respected Ai Records. Since 2003 Pathic has taken his musical endeavours into the live arena with laptop performances at festivals such as Bestival and Bloc Weekend and parties in cosmopolitan cities like Berlin, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Seattle and Lisbon. Whilst Pathic's own productions are often more rooted in electro, his DJ sets are often a tad more eclectic; expect to hear glitchy techno, broken beats and dubstep rumbles alongside the trademark booming 808 beats. And during his more intimate bar slots, you're every bit as likely to hear a bit of Tom Tom Club or Cymande, as you are Plaid or John Tejada. http://www.pyramidtransmissions.com http://www.beatunique.com/?p=268 Deboa Deboa has been DJing regularly across the UK since 2000 - tearing it up from Sankey's Soap in Manchester to Fabric in London. With stints working at some of dance music's most influential labels (including Hospital Records, Buzzin' Fly and Rough Trade), Deboa's musical knowledge and impeccable taste touch on many bases. With sets defined by the rhythmic sounds of house and techno, Deboa will effortlessly move from a deep and brukky sound to Afro, Latin and dubstep, spiced up with breaks and bass-heavy rollers when the occasion arises... And as one of London's brightest rising DJ talents, Deboa currently champions the Deep Down... warehouse parties and is resident DJ of London's Bastard Batty Bass and Tatty Bogle. http://soundcloud.com/Deboa http://www.beatunique.com/?p=430
