Slow Disco Saturdays 1st Anniversary with Tiki Disco & Friends

  • On Sept. 24th, we’ll be celebrating the 1st Anniversary of halcyon the shop's Slow Disco Saturdays soiree. It’s been an awesome year full of good times, good music, and great memories. To celebrate this mini milestone of sorts, we’ve invited the Tiki Disco crew and friends to get down behind the decks and spin us some sick tunes. If you’ve been to one of their Sunday boogie downs over the summer, then you know what you’re in for: a proper party. Let's dance! About Slow Disco Saturdays Slow Disco Saturdays is a monthly DJ session at halcyon the shop, hosted by our own queen of the retarded beat scene, Bianca Von Baum. Each session will feature a guest DJ laying down 3 hours of tempo challenged choons, from dawdling cosmic Disco to lazy low-slung Funk and lead-footed Balaeric burners. So if you are feeling sluggish after a Friday night of quick paced rubbish, come pitch it down with Ms. Baum on a Slow Disco Saturday afternoon. Past guests have included Beg To Differ, Runaway, soho808, Slow Hands, Kid Color, Discovery, Matthew Kyle, Jkriv, Sharegroove and more… About Tiki Disco Tiki Disco is a bi-monthly boogie down that takes place in the backyard of Brooklyn's hot pizza joint, Roberta's - a cozy oasis of sorts in the middle of industrial Bushwick. The party is the brainchild of local DJs Eli Escobar, Lloydski and Andy Pry - talented tastemakers in their own right, and all round fun dudes. The last time we attended Tiki we splurged on rounds of sangria and frozen Pina Coladas, danced in the rain to "Erotic City" and fist-pumped in a packed out tent to soul-drenched, old school House. And then after all that we ducked inside for some gourmet, mouth-watering pizza post-dance floor action. It was a great, memorable night, and we owe it all to the Tiki Disco boys for putting on a great show…
