roBOt festival opening party!
Born and brought up on the most exciting house scene of our time, from a Turkish artist from the Big Apple to a fast rising Dj in the cicle of Wolf+Lamb, Deniz exploded with one of the most important and solid house albums this year, on one of the coolest labels of the moment. Music Watching Over Me for Crosstown rebels (Nicolas Jaar, Art Department) is the ideal soundtrack for the Marcy Hotel and for any other club that wants to give dancers a set which breathes the history of Chicago and Detroit without being nostalgic. It is nonconformist house because it’s deeply connected with the past and at the same time having a retro, innovative sound. Groovey, soulful voices, with even a touch proggy for old synths, set up perfectly with trax beats and using an ultra sexy Roland.
Born in Bologna, the Chicago of Italian house, and residents at Kinky in the 90s which was Emilia Romagna’s equivalent of Paradise Garage. Uovo, Dino Angioletti and Rame represent an artistic legacy indispensable for the world of Italian electronic dance music. It’s natural that their sound is so well-known and successful abroad, being not only due to splendid Dj sets, but also because of their high quality productions.
Starting form 2001, Pastaboys founded Manocalda, the most significant result of their 4/4 and black music fusions without forgetting soft and colourful paths in territories like jazz as well as blues and Latin music. Tribute, one of their old tracks, was one of the most effective tunes to be remixed by Djs of caliber like Ilario Alicante, Fabrizio Maurizi and Ralf in the summer of 2011. “Limit†was inserted into Carl Craig’s prestigious mix album for Fabric. “sexyâ€, their latest track, is already a hit. Their belief? House is like the happiness and sensuality of the spirit.
Angelo Andina, born in 1968, is a privileged witness to the birth of Italian house. He’s absolutely crazy for vinyl. Since the 90s he’s been playing out of passion, never for profession, in the most important venues on the Italian clubbing scene; Matis, Mama, Ehos and Bunker, BBC. Andrea Bassi is younger but has played his cards in the right places since the summer of ’98 in Ibiza, a period where he started working at DC10 with Pelino Antonio and subsequently with Cirillo. Andrea Arcangeli, born in 1972, Dj and producer, has been active since 1991. He started out with after hours in the legendary Club 99, and then continued to the best clubs in Italy. He is presently resident at Titilla, Guendalina, Peter Pan, Biblos and Echoes. He has been inserted under the name M.A.S. Collective (but not only) on key house labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Defected, Yoshi Toshi and Bed Rock. He is also, alongside Angelo Andina, owner of Less Conversation.
